Mt Ninderry Environmental Reserve
Mount Ninderry Environmental Reserve is a 100 Ha reserve located in the upper reaches of the Maroochy River catchment. Only a ten minute drive from Yandina, the reserve includes the 304 metre Mt Ninderry, an unmistakable figure on the surrounding landscape. With cultural heritage values to the indigenous Kabi Kabi / Gubbi Gubbi people, as well as being a popular walking and climbing destination, the mountain is certainly an important and valued part of the natural heritage of the Sunshine Coast.
Managing the reserve is both a challenge (walking to the summit in summer) and a privilege, and our team of passionate staff always enjoy working to ensure the bushland is improved with every day spent there. The sunrises in winter are certainly a reward for an early start to the working day.
We have now removed the bulk of the weed located on the summit, allowing the native vegetation to flourish and restoring the natural ecosystem. We have been working on a number of locations across the reserve from steep slopes to a waterfall while restoring the natural balance.
There is another walk within the reserve from the base of the mountain, which takes you to a fantastic waterfall after heavy rain.
A variety of vegetation types occur within the reserve, including 12.3.2, 12.12.14, 12.12.15 and 12.12.16.
Enjoy this natural beauty that is located on our beautiful region of the Sunshine Coast.
